Date:        8th May 2023

Subject:   AGM Notice 2023

The Executive Council hereby gives notice that the 2023 NFB UK Annual General Meeting and Conference Will take place in the Windermere Manor Hotel on Saturday, September 30.

Dates: Friday, September 29 to Sunday 1st October 2023

Venue: Windermere Manor Hotel

We thank Pardy Gill and Liz Silver for their support with organising the venue.

Hotel rates have increased greatly this year but we have been fortunate in receiving a special offer with Windermere Manor.  Nevertheless, the cost of rooms is higher than last year.

For the second year running, the Executive Council is providing a 50% subsidy of overnight accommodation charges.  This will save Branches collectively at least £2,500.  Once again, bookings will be made with the NFBUK Office and the room rates per night will be as follows:-

(1) Single Room ; £60 per person

(2) Double Room for sole occupancy ; £85 per person

(3) Double/Twin room for double occupancy ; £60 per person

(4) Additional Night Rate for the Sunday would be at a preferred £75 per person for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast

In fact, this year all room rates will include the cost of dinner as well as bed and breakfast.  We do advise Branches to book as early as possible.  There are only two single rooms available so attendees should consider sharing a room to avoid paying higher rates to occupy a double room (£85 per night).

Travel – Windemere Manor is easily accessible by Rail with frequent services to Oxenholme Lake District and connecting hourly Northern services to Windermere. The hotel is a very short taxi ride from Windermere station. Cost effective Advance Rail tickets will be released towards the end of June.

Windemere Manor has undergone refurbishment under Starboard Hotels ownership during the pandemic. The hotel retains many VI facilities, including grooming room, free run and spending areas for guide dogs Plus a large, fully accessible indoor swimming pool on the lower ground floor.  This intimate hotel is Familia to many NFBUK members.

We hope Branches will take advantage of the subsidised accommodation rates and consider sending observers to gain experience of the AGM weekend.
