My name is Jill Allen-King O.B.E. I have been a member of the N.F.B. since 1970.
I was President from 1992-95. At this time we had our highest membership, 2,500 members with 38 branches.
I formed the Environment Committee in 1973 and chaired it until 2008 when the Executive Council decided without the support of the membership to close all the campaign committees. Instead they decided to employ a sighted person to run the shared space campaign.
I am now 83, my husband has dementia and I am waiting for my 8th guide dog. I just want to try and help the federation back to do the campaigning work we used to do.
