My name is Geane, a PhD student at the University of Southampton. I am currently studying PhD Web Science with a focus on human-computer interaction and digital accessibility.
My PhD study addresses a research problem about the low physical activity participation of young adults with visual impairment in the UK. In order to investigate this issue, this study aims to understand the experiences and behaviours that impact the active lifestyle of visually impaired young adults.
At the moment, I’m looking for coaches/guides (at least one year of experience) and VI young adults (18-30 years old) to take part in interview about sport and physical activity of VI young adults and the user testing of a prototype app. So, I would like to know if you could share my study adverts on your social media.
I have two study adverts. One is for young adults with visual impairment and the other is for coaches and guides of VI sports and exercises.
Study advert for young adults with visual impairment:
Are you 18-30 years old with visual impairment? Researchers at University of Southampton are looking to find ways to support visually impaired young adults to get active. You can help by taking part in an online interview to share your views and experiences of getting active or taking part in sport, and to give your feedback on an app we developed to support people with visual impairment to get active. Your contribution could make a positive impact on the lifestyle of visually impaired young adults. Find out more about this research on https://bit.ly/activevistudy. If you are interested, please email Geane on gdaz1e17@soton.ac.uk. This study has been approved by the University of Southampton Ethics Committee (Ref: ERGO/FEPS/ 51707).
Study advert for coaches and guides:
Are you a coach or guide who supports visually impaired people to get into sport and exercise? Would you like to take part in research at the University of Southampton looking at ways to support young adults with visual impairment to get active? It would be wonderful if you could participate in an online interview to share your views on the support available for visually impaired people and the challenges you might face when helping young adults with visual impairment to get active. You can also give your feedback on an app we developed to support them to get active. Your contribution could make a positive impact on the lifestyle of many visually impaired young adults.
