At their AGM in Windermere, the NFBUK changed President. Outgoing President, Douglas Gilroy, said: “I congratulate Andrew on becoming my successor. We have a lot of challenges ahead of us in these tough financial times but I am sure Andrew and Executive Council colleagues will continue to campaign and work to limit the worst excesses of the current welfare reforms.”
New President, Andrew Hodgson, said: “I am honoured to take over as President of NFBUK, which has an illustrious record of campaigning on behalf of blind and partially-sighted people in the British Isles. At our AGM we have held workshops on improving our financial situation and on developing NFBUK for the future. The latter of these concentrated on ways of recruiting new members, outreach into the community and developing our future campaigning strategy. In relation to development we have recently recruited a Development Worker, Haleema Aslam who will work towards widening our membership and promoting our work on campaigns more broadly.”
