Do you live in Yorkshire and have a Visual Impairment? If so, why not come and join us? You would be made very welcome as we are a very friendly group!

We meet the first Tuesday in each month at the New Headingly Club, St. Michaels Lane, Headingly, which is in Leeds

During the year we have various activities which include meals out occasionally, auctions, quiz’s, and speakers. as well as business meetings for discussions on our various campaigns. These are quite substantial and are listed below;-

The Leeds Charter
Pavements are for People;-
Wheelie Bins and Cars parked on pavements
Over growing hedges
Street furniture – A boards, outside tables & Chairs
Access & Usability Advisory Group (AUAG) – Run by Leeds City Council it is a group of people with disabilities which some of us go to representing visually impaired people. We all
make sure that any new projects are suitable for the disabled. present this includes the problem of moving
of the taxi rank from outside the Railway station
Shared Spaces
Campaign for Sight Loss – to get more Rehabilitation Officers for the Blind & Partially Sighted
Audio- Visual (AV) on buses
Electric scooters & bikes

We also have members representing the Federation on various committees and other Organisations which are listed as follows;-

The Leeds Society for Deaf & Blind People
Leeds Involving People
Leeds Hearing & Sight Loss @ Gallery House
Voluntary Action Leeds

Locally, one member has been fighting for some years to get a crossing on her estate. The shops are on the opposite side of the road on which she lives and is consistently asking friends to take her across the road for her shopping! Even a local petition did not work!
